Horizon Group looks for volunteers

The Horizon Group Against the Death Penalty, a satellite organisation of the Association of Young Journalists Polis and the Helsinki Foundation for Human Rights, is seeking volunteers interested in death penalty and its abolition, restorative justice and working with prisoners.

They will have the opportunity to participate and assist in the following projects:
1. Working on the Horizon Group internet communication – upgrading the newly established website and preparing new print publications (domestic and international press review, writing your own materials, solicting external texts, developing interviews with experts).
2. Running workshops for youth and adults, moderating discussions during meetings, organising film screenings.
3. Working with prisoners – implementing projects in prison facilities, collecting information and supporting programmes.

We expect volunteers to contribute about 8 hours of work per week, out of which Horizon Group’s meetings will take two hours each Wednesday, from 6 to 8 pm and the remaining 6 hours will be devoted to specific projects either at the Group’s headquarters or at the venue of workshops and meetings. In exceptional cases volunteers will be allowed to work from home.

Applications (a resume with a short covering letter) are to be submitted to grupahoryzont@polis.org.pl. by Monday, 11 October. The selected persons will be invited to attend an interview.

The Group’s meetings will commence on 14 October. The first few meetings will focus on discussing our goals for the following months. We will also set the calendar of activities and select teams working on particular projects and develop individual working schedules for each team.
