Senate confirmed the appointment of Dr Adam Bodnar to the position of Human Rights Defender

Senate confirmed the appointment by the Sejm of Dr Adam Bodnar, HFHR Deputy President, to the position of the Human Rights Defender.

“We are extremely happy at Adam’s appointment to the position of Human Rights Defender” – says Danuta Przywara, President of the HFHR. “I am certain that Adam’s passion and commitment to human rights will result in a marked improvement in their protection” – adds Danuta Przywara.

Dr Adam Bodnar has been working at the Helsinki Foundation for Human Rights for the last 11 years. In that period, he created the Strategic Litigation Programme and developed the practice of strategic litigation in the area of human rights protection. As the head of the Legal Department, he oversaw and consulted numerous opinions and reports prepared by HFHR lawyers.

“We will miss him at the Foundation, but something tells me that this will not be the end of our collaborative effort for the protection of human rights. After all, HFHR has been collaborating with Human Rights Defenders since the beginning of 1990s, and we obviously intend to keep this collaboration alive” – adds Danuta Przywara.

Adam, please accept our congratulations and we wish you every success in your new positio. We keep our fingers crossed for you!
