Why were non-governmental organisations absent from a debate held by the Prime Minister?

‘We appreciate the effort made by the government to join the civic debate on the freedoms and rights on the Internet […]. However, in view of all the controversy surrounding ACTA we strongly believe that an honest debate cannot be held without full transparency and openness’, reads the NGOs’ statement.

According to the organisations, with ACTA ratification looming, no further discussion on the rights and freedoms on the Internet is possible unless the government discloses all the documents concerning ACTA.  What they are primarily interested in are the negotiation positions of the countries involved in the drafting of ACTA .

The NGOs also call on the government to propose such a consultation formula that will enable all members of the society to take part in the discussion.
