Adam Bodnar received the Tolerance Award 2011

We have the pleasure to announce that Dr. Adam Bodnar, Secretary of the HFHR Board, received this year’s Tolerance Award.

Dr. Bodnar, a Foundation member since 2004, has been actively involved in numerous legal activities of the HFHR. He handled, for instance, the ECHR case of Bączkowski and Others v. Poland which concerned the prohibition of the 2005 Warsaw Equality Parade. In 2005 he also supported the complaint filed against Przemysław Aleksandrowicz and Jacek Tomczak, then activists of Law and Justice in Poznań, in response to Mr Aleksandrowicz and Mr Tomczak’s comparison of homosexuality to paedophilia, necrophilia and zoophilia.

The Chapter of the Award appreciated Dr. Bodnar’s work for human rights protection and his commitment to championing the rights of the LGBT in the media despite an unfavourable political and social climate.

Congratulations Adam!
