Response of the Chief Commissioner of the Police to the intervention in the case of the mistake of a Police tactical unit

In the response to the HFHR’s intervention in the case of the mistake of a Police tactical unit, the Chief Commissioner of the Police pointed out that the internal investigation revealed that the error was the responsibility of two police officers from the Vehicle Crime Unit of the Provincial Police Headquarters in Katowice. Disciplinary proceedings have been initiated against the officers. Moreover, the Circuit Prosecutor’s Office has started an inquiry into possible criminal liability of the officers.

The Chief Commissioner of the Police also stated that a team has been set up to develop a draft regulation governing the recording of images and sounds during the operations of tactical units.

Let us remind that in its letter to the Chief Commissioner of the Police, inspector superintendent Marek Działoszyński, the Helsinki Foundation for Human Rights expressed its concern with the course of the operation by a Police tactical unit in Katowice.
